London Aquarium, London, United Kingdom

The London Aquarium is home to one of Europe’s largest collections of global marine life and is a great day out.

Situated on London’s South Bank, the Aquarium offers everything from hammerhead sharks to sea turtles, housed in a spacious facility that recently underwent a £5 million refurbishment.

Visitors can walk through the ocean tunnel to get the strange experience of being among the creatures, as well as touching a stingray in the “look and feel” tank.

The Aquarium also plays host to several robotic fish (although they are scheduled to be moved at some point — it’s best to call ahead if they’re your main reason for visiting!), which are being tested for their interaction with other fish in a tank, so see if you can spot them!

The live creatures enjoy optimum water quality, expert husbandry and surrounds which carefully mimic their preferred natural habitats, while visitors feel themselves immersed in the marine environment…rather than mere spectators.
